INTEGRATE-Pain Domain Meeting

June 14, 2022

The INTEGRATE-Pain Consortium conducted a systematic literature review of pain Core Outcome Set (COS) initiatives from around the world. During the June 14, 2022 meeting, the INTEGRATE-Pain will bring initiatives, stakeholders (including patient representatives), and steering committee members together to discuss the launch of a Delphi voting process in order to select a set of recommended core pain domains (Patient Reported Outcomes, or PROs) that investigators in the field of pain research can use in their studies going forward.

Meeting Goals

  • Provide a virtual environment to discuss pain domains (PROs) and Core Outcome Sets (COS)
  • Provide the rationale for discussing the possibility of creating four pain COS – acute pain, chronic pain, the transition from acute to chronic pain, and episodic/breakthrough pain
  • Present the results from the pain COS systematic literature review (SLR) – from acute pain, chronic pain, the transition from acute to chronic pain, and episodic/breakthrough pain
  • Gather feedback from the international COS pain initiatives and meeting attendees, participants, and patient representatives
  • Elicit buy-in from the pain COS initiatives to participate in a Delphi process for acute pain, chronic pain, the transition from acute to chronic pain, and episodic/breakthrough pain (if deemed necessary by attendees)
  • Understand the Delphi voting process
  • Explain what is expected of meeting participants if there is a consensus on the need for a Delphi process for pain COS
